# Chart of Accounts Report

> List your general ledger accounts with their nature, status and balance. Inactive accounts are hidden by default.

See your general ledger accounts with their nature, status and balance. Inactive accounts are hidden by default.

### **Business Value**

* Prints a chart of accounts that matches the accounts you really use.
* Hides inactive accounts by default, like the other GL reports.
* Shows each account's status, so you can spot retired accounts.
* Brings inactive accounts back into view when you need them.
* Keeps the printed list in step with Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss.

### **Use Cases**

* Financial controller prints the chart of accounts and gets live accounts only.
* Accountant shows inactive accounts to check an old duplicate before closing it.
* Auditor reads the Status column to confirm which accounts are still in use.

### **How It Works**

| **Where:** Back Office → Reports → GL → Chart of Accounts |
| - |

The report lists your general ledger accounts, grouped by account type. You can drill down into the child accounts of any account.

#### **Running the Report**

1. **Date** — the date the balances are read at.
2. **Show inactive accounts** — **Don't show** (the default) or **Show**.

Then preview it on screen, print it, or download it as XLS, XLSX, ODS or PDF.

#### **Hiding Inactive Accounts**

An account is inactive when its Status is set to **Inactive**. You set this on the account's own setup screen (Back Office → Accounts → Account).

With **Don't show**:

* Inactive accounts are left out of the report.
* An inactive account is hidden even when it still has a balance.
* An inactive parent hides everything under it. Active child accounts are hidden too.

With **Show**, every account appears. That is how the report worked before.

The filter works at every level. It applies to the top-level list and inside the drill-down.

| **Note:** The filter reads the account's status today. It does not depend on the report date or on any balance. |
| - |

#### **Report Columns**

Each row shows an account and its balance at the report date. These two columns describe the account:

| Column | What it returns |
| - | - |
| Account nature | The nature set on the account. |
| Status | **Active** or **Inactive**. |

**Status** is the new column. It sits after Account nature. It appears for both filter options, on screen, in print and in every download format.

Nothing else changed. The Date parameter, the balances and the grouping by account type work as before. The sort order and the drill-down are unchanged.
