Business Value
- Speeds up creating many similar accounts.
- Prevents typing the same group and account type again.
- Reduces wrong postings caused by a wrong group.
- Copies the T0–T4 analysis codes in British accounting mode.
- Restricts cloning to users who can add accounts.
Use Cases
- Accountant clones a rooms expense account and gets the same group ready.
- Financial controller clones a British-mode account and keeps its analysis codes.
- Chief accountant builds ten similar accounts without entering the setup each time.
How It Works
Before, a new account could only be added from an empty form. You can now start from an existing account. See How do I add a new account to my chart of accounts? for the empty form.
- Open the account you want to copy.
- Click Clone.
- A new account form opens, filled from that account.
- Enter the Account Number. It is empty and required.
- Change any other field you need.
- Click Save.
What the Clone Copies
- Description
- Arabic description
- Group
- Account type
- Status (Active / Inactive)
- Control account
- Parent account
- Account subtype
- Custom Tags
What the Clone Does Not Copy
- Account Number — left empty. You must enter a number before saving.
- Safe Box — always unticked. Only one account in the hotel can be the Safe Box account.
- Balance — the new account starts at zero. A clone copies setup, never money.
British Accounting Mode
In properties using the British accounting system, the clone also copies:- Main Account
- All T0–T4 analysis codes from the account you cloned from
Saving the Clone
- The account number must be unique.
- A number that already exists gives an error. Your other values stay on the form.
- All the usual required fields still apply.
- You do not have to change the description. Only the account number must be unique.
