Adjust on-hold AR debit postings in the posting’s own currency instead of the base currency.

Business Value

  • Adjust foreign-currency AR postings without converting by hand.
  • Applies the original posting’s exchange factor, keeping history consistent.
  • Shows base and foreign amounts together on every adjustment.
  • Blocks adjustments that exceed the original posting amount.
  • Prevents zero-value adjustments being saved.

Use Cases

  • Accountant reduces a USD on-hold posting by 200 USD and the base amount follows automatically.
  • Credit controller corrects a foreign-currency charge without recalculating the rate.
  • Finance manager reviews an adjustment and sees the exchange factor that was applied.

How It Works

Each AR posting is adjusted in the currency of its AR main posting, which is used as the adjustment’s default currency. The conversion always uses the original posting’s exchange factor, not today’s rate, so an adjustment can never be distorted by a later rate change.

The Two New Fields

In other words, you type the figure in whichever currency the posting is actually held in, and the system fills in the other side.

Validations

Two rules are enforced when you save an adjustment:
  • The adjustment cannot exceed the original posting’s amount — “The adjustment amount can’t exceed the original posting’s amount.”
  • The adjustment cannot be zero — “The adjustment amount can’t be zero.”
